As a third-generation Beav, Alexa Roberts knew her way around OSU and even lived in the same dorm as her grandmother. She also learned from her OSU “family” — her sorority, Delta Gamma, and her work on the College of Business social media team that gave her space to grow professionally and feel supported by a team that believed in her.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I’m hoping to stay on the agency side of marketing — it’s where I’ve found the most excitement and growth. I love the fast pace, the creativity, and getting to work with a variety of brands and people. Every day feels different, and I’m excited to keep learning and building my career in that kind of environment.

What’s one thing you learned during your academic journey that made a big impact?

One thing I learned during my academic journey that made a big impact was how valuable it is to lean on the resources around you. I used to think I had to figure everything out on my own, but once I started consistently going to SI tables and using other support services, things really changed for me. Whether it was reviewing tough concepts or just hearing material explained in a different way, those sessions helped things click. It reminded me that asking for help isn’t a weakness — it’s a smart way to learn. That mindset helped me stay on track and feel more confident, especially during the most challenging terms.

Was there a moment you realized you’d grown during your time at OSU?

One of the biggest moments of growth for me was when I went through OSU GO’s study abroad program. Living alone in a foreign country was a huge shift, and it was the first time I really saw myself as an adult navigating the real world. I had to figure things out on my own, from day-to-day life to cultural differences, and that taught me a lot about independence. What made it even more impactful was the people I met — I had the chance to connect and network with students and professionals from all over the world. Hearing their stories and perspectives opened my mind and helped me grow both personally and professionally. It was one of the most empowering experiences I’ve had during my time at OSU.

Who or what helped you along the way?

I got a lot of support from the communities I was involved with at OSU. Working on the College of Business social media team gave me a space to grow professionally while feeling supported by a team that truly believed in me. I also found a strong sense of belonging in my sorority, Delta Gamma, where I was constantly surrounded by people who lifted me up and encouraged me in everything I pursued. Whether it was a new idea, a leadership role or a tough week, I always felt like I had people in my corner — and that made a huge difference.

Were you involved in any experiences you’d like to highlight?

One experience I’m especially proud of is working on OSU’s College of Business social media team for the past three-and-a-half years. As a transfer student, it was the first group I really connected with on campus, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to watch the team grow and evolve over time. It gave me hands-on experience, leadership opportunities and a true sense of community. I’m also a proud member of Delta Gamma sorority, where I’ve built lasting friendships and had the chance to get involved in meaningful service and leadership activities. Outside of OSU, I’ve worked for a brand experience marketing agency — first as an intern and now as a contracted worker for the past nine months. It’s been an amazing chance to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom to real-world projects and work with some inspiring professionals in the industry.
